I always loved my mom’s baked beans and she used a brand of canned beans that can only be purchased in the Northeastern United States. I have literally tried, for years, to duplicate the taste of those beans, along with my mom’s special additions.

Today, before a family picnic I experimented and came up with this dish. It was an immediate hit and a recipe I would like to share with you.

  • 4 cans Organic Great Northern Beans Slightly Drained
  • 1/2 cup red onion Chopped
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tbl. mustard
  • 2 cups barbeque sauce
  • 1 tsp. hot sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. liquid smoke

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Spray glass baking dish with Olive Oil spray
  3. Pour into prepared bowl, all ingredients. Mix with spoon.
  4. Bake, uncovered for 1 hour.
